[Review] Skinfood Fresh Apple Sparkling Pore Toner

IMG_0170

Hey everyone!

Today I’ll be review Skinfood’s Fresh Apple Sparkling Pore Toner. I bought this at a local store that sells Asian Skincare. It’s a lot cheaper online but I ran out of my Skinfood Tomato Toner and I forgot to reorder it. So I went to a local store. They didn’t have the tomato toner so I thought I’d give this a go.

I’ve already finished most of this bottle now, I need to go order another toner!

IMG_0172

IMG_0173

Packaging: It comes wrapped in a layer of plastic. It is a glass bottle with a plastic cap. A little heavy, but that’s alright. I’m always worried about dropping it though, so I poured it into a small plastic bottle and use it from there instead. It looks quite pretty though.

Texture/Smell: It is very light and absorbs quite easily. I expected a strong sweet artificial apple smell, but it wasn’t like that. But it didn’t smell as sweet? Has a more bitter smell to it, if you get what I mean haha. It smell/feels like it contains a  fair bit of alcohol in it as well.

Effectiveness: It’s not bad. I’m not sure if it does that good of a job at taking care of my pores tho. But it’s still an alright toner I suppose. I don’t think toners do that much anyway. There’s not that much of a difference with this one.

Rating: 3.5/5

Repurchase? I’m not sure. I think I’ll go back to my Skinfood Tomato Toner or try the Skinfood Lettuce and Cucumber Toner. I think those are/would be more hydrating.

This is review is not sponsored by any brands or stores. Everything is my own honest opinion.

[Review] Etude House I Need You Mask Mugwort

image1

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be reviewing Etude House’s Mugwort I Need You Mask. I received this mask from Kosmeshop quite a while ago and used it yesterday. This mask is for soothing and brightening. As I went bush walking yesterday without sunscreen, the mask was much needed to calm down my skin.

Also to be honest I’ve never heard much of mugwort before seeing this mask. But it’s a herb used in food and medicine.

image2 (1)

Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Alcohol, Panthenol, Carbomer, PEG60Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Xanthan Gum, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract (20mg), Potassium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Allantoin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Leaf Extract, Paeonia Albiflora Root Extract, Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Warning: Contains fragrance.

Notable Ingredients:

Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract – soothing, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant
Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract – cleaning

Mask quality and fit: 3.5/5
The mask quality was pretty good, it wasn’t too thin and felt fine. The shape of the mask is alright, but the eye holes are a bit too flat and made it slightly uncomfortable. It also didn’t fully cover my big forehead 😦

Smell: 4/5
The smell isn’t that strong so I am really not sure how to describe it. But it smells fresh.

Serum: 4/5
There wasn’t that much essence in the packet even though I tried to squeeze some out to use later as I didn’t have that much time for a mask yesterday. Still a decent amount though. The consistency was fairly thin but a bit thicker after you cool it in the fridge. It absorbed fairly quickly compared to some of the other masks I’ve used.

Results: 3.8/5
After the mask my face seemed to calmed down a bit and was less red. However the next morning my face didn’t seem as smooth as I was hoping for. Slightly disappointing. I’m not sure if it did much brightening like it was supposed to. It did sooth my skin though.

Overall rating: 3.8/5
It was actually a pretty good mask, but I think I had higher expectations as I’ve read some good reviews on it. But I think it’s worth it for the price.

Repurchase? Yes, I’ve already ordered 2 more 🙂 You can get them from Kosmeshop for just $0.87 each! There are a ton of other types as well if you wanted to try a different one.

[Review] Royal Skin The Animalian Mask Tiger + Panda

royalskin

Hi everyone! I’ll be reviewing the Tiger and Panda Royal Skin The Animalian Masks today! I will be combining the reviews as the ingredients list are the same on the two masks and I feel like they worked the same. I received both masks from Skin18! I’ve always wanted to try a patterned mask so I was delighted when I received them!

IMG_6767

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract – hydrating, soothing
Portulaca Oleracea Extract – anti-aging, anti-inflammatory
Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract – soothing, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant

Mask quality and fit: 4.5/5
Mask stuck to face fairly well and was very soaked. The fabric was fairly soft and nice and the design was so cute! The colour did not come off the mask while I was using it.

Smell: 5/5
I thought the smell was nice, a bit like soft drinks in my opinion. But I don’t know, I seem to think a lot of products smells like soft drinks!

Serum: 4.5/5
There was a lot of serum in the packet and I used the leftovers on my face for the next few days with good results. The mask lasted quite a while without drying out.

Results: 4/5
The masks made my face brighter and less red after using. My face felt really moisturised. I didn’t experience a break out or anything. I must say I was quite satisfied!

Overall rating: 4.6/5
I really liked these masks! I think I would probably repurchase 😀 You can get them at Skin18 at $1.80 each! There are other designs too! I think the masks are adorable as gifts as well 🙂

[Review] The Saem All-in-one Mojito Moisturiser

IMG_7312

Hey everyone! I received this moisturiser from Kosmeshop a while ago and have been using it for a few months now. Please check out Kosmeshop if you haven’t already! They have great prices and a big selection of items!

The item claims to be an all-in-one product, replacing your toner, essence, serum and moisturiser! Although when i use it i still used a toner anyway as i’m more comfortable with it like that 🙂 Most of it is made up of citrus extract? And i think it is lime that is used. If you didn’t know mojito is a cocktail 😀

There are other products in this line, which is endorsed by IU! I can’t find a picture with the whole line so you’ll just have to take my word for it 😛

Other ones that you can find at Kosmeshop: The Saem Mojito Moisturizing Jelly Mist (Grapefruit) 100mlThe Saem MOJITO Water Mist (Lime) 100ml

Ingredients: (credits to cosdna)

Citrus aurantifolia (90%), Glycerin, Glyceryl acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Mentha piperita, Chaenomeles Sinensis Fruit Extract, Melissa Officinalis Extract, Citrus aurantium amara, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Lactobacillus/Aspergiullus/Prunus Mume Fruit Ferment Filtrate, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Malva sylvestris, Primula Veris Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Carbomer, Octyldodeceth-25, Decyltetradeceth-25, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, 1,2- Hexanediol, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance, Sparkling Water, Asperigillus/Camellia Sinensis Leaf Ferment Extract Filtrate

Packaging: Comes sealed in a layer of plastic. It is a green plastic bottle with a pump and a cap. Very easy to use, simply push down on the pump, dispenses easily. It is small and convenient, didn’t spill when i traveled.

image2

Texture/Smell: The texture is like a gel, it has a herbal smell? Absorbs quite easily, but can feel slightly sticky when you first put it on. The smell also goes away really quickly and isn’t strong at all. It doesn’t have the perfumey smell a lot of other products have.

image3

Effectiveness: I must say i really quite like this moisturiser 🙂 I used this instead of my usual essence + emulsion and i think it worked quite well! It decreased the number of pimples in the centre of my face, i.e. nose and around there. I think this sort of makes my face slightly more oily sometimes but it still doesn’t break me out haha. A bit weird, but i’m okay with it as long as i don’t get break outs!! It moisturises my face really well. I still have pimples buts its definitely not making it worse, and cleared my face after the Cosrx BHA skin-returning A-sol.

Rating: 4.2/5

Repurchase? Yes i think i will repurchase 🙂 You can buy one at Kosmeshop for $9.31!

[Review] Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-sol

IMG_7310

Hey everyone! I’m finally back! Sorry for the long hiatus, i was extremely busy and stressed 😦

Anyways, back to the review!  So i received this Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-sol from Kosmeshop. Please check them out! They have great prices and a big selection of items!

Ingredients (from box): Propolis Extract, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Lactate, Lactic Acid, water, Glycolic Acid, Betaine Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Allatoin, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethyl Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil.

Active ingredients: Betain Salicylate 1%

How to use: (from box)
You can use this as a toner or as a spot treatment.
IMG_7908

Packaging: The packing is a opaque white bottle with a black plastic pump and a clear cap. You have to tilt the bottle to spray the liquid out onto your hands as otherwise it’ll just drip down the side as you can see the pump’s mouth is very short and small.

IMG_7909

Texture/Smell: The texture is quite runny, pretty much like water. It is a bit sticky even after you pat it onto your face. It has a smell to it, which i think is mainly the tea tree oil. It’s not too strong though and disappears fairly quickly.

IMG_7910

Experience/Effectiveness:
As many of you might know, this Cosrx BHA A-sol is quite popular especially on the Asian Beauty SubReddit (I’m Skincare Safari on there!). Unfortunately, as much as i wanted to like this and thought it would work, i don’t think it really worked for me, and in fact i think it made me break out 😦

I used this product for two and a half weeks twice a day in place of my toner. At first i was getting a few white heads, and i thought maybe i was just purging. What wishful thinking. I searched in many places and people think that since BHA only at 1% concentration it would not be strong enough to exfoliate and cause purging. And they are probably right. And it’s not at the right pH either. As i kept using for the 2 and a half weeks, my skin just didn’t get any better and got progressively worse instead. Maybe it was my stress levels rocketing, but i’m pretty sure that the BHA A-sol broke me out 😦 My face felt a lot more lumpier than usual. My skin got better after i quite using it and switched moisturisers 🙂

When i tried to use this A-sol for spot treatment it didn’t do much for me either :/

I must say i was pretty disappointed in the product as it worked miracles for so many others. I’ve seen a few other reviews where the product didn’t work so it’s not just me. Supposedly propolis might be the reason i broke out, but i’ll have to check this with other products containing propolis.

But since the A-sol did work for many others, you should try it out to decide for yourself. You can get it here from Kosmeshop for $14.37. But if your skin isn’t getting better then stop using it!

Also a note, i found the sample packets of these Cosrx products very annoying… I had a sample sized version of this A-sol before from Roseroseshop and I was very excited to try it. But the rip made it hard for the product to come out and I didn’t manage to use any of the product as it spilled all over the packaging in small holes between the plastic covering inside :/

[Guest Review] Four Seasons Collagen Lifting Wrinkle Care Intensive Mask

IMG_6641Hello! It’s another post from this blogger’s twin sister! So I used this mask sent from Skin18 recently and would like to share my experience with you! Yes, I know this is not going to be as informative and helpful, but hey, I’m trying!

IMG_6642

ngredients:
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Dirpopylene Glycol, Panthenol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Xantham Gum, Carbomer, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract, Hamamellis Viginiana (Witch Hazal) Extract, Tripheyl Trimethicone, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Triethanolamine,Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Illicium Verum (Ansie) Fruit Extract,1,2-Hexanediol, Capryly Glycol, Propanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Polyacrytate, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Allantoin,  Ceth-20, Ceteth-10, Cetearyl Alcohol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Fragrance.

Warning: Contains fragrance, alcohol.

Notable ingredients:

Hydrolyzed collagen – anti-aging, wrinkle improvement, moisturising
Sodium Hyaluronate – hydrating
Hamamelis Viginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract – pore care, calming
Adenosine – Wrinke improvement, anti-aging

Mask Quality and Fit: 3/5

Same as the other Four Seasons mask I reviewed, the mask fit my face decently. However, it did fit a bit awkwardly in some places like around my mouth and on the sides of my face where i had to fold some places but it was okay I suppose. The mask was of average thickness I think.

Smell: 4/5
Again, the smell of the mask was pretty okay, it wasn’t anything off putting which is good, my sister who used the Ginseng mask was a bit put off by the smell of her mask haha.

Serum: 3/5

There was a lot of serum left in the mask and in the packet after I was done with it, which was pretty good. This mask made my face tingle a tiny bit as well, so I guess that’s normal? But I was still a bit worried about it. It happened with the other Four Seasons mask as well. After I took it off it felt a bit sticky from all the serum.

Results: 4/5

This mask is for wrinkle care, and since I’m pretty annoyed about my wrinkles on my forehead and around my eyes, I decided to use this mask haha. I left it on for a bit longer this time, around 20-25 minutes? Right after using it, my face felt a bit tighter than usual, so it worked! The results kinda lasted until the next morning, too!  But by the end of the day my face was definitely back to normal again. This one didn’t break me out either.

Overall rating: 3.5/5

Repurchase?:  Well, the results were quite good and it didn’t break me out, so I think so?  You can get it at Skin18 for $0.85 at the moment!

[Review] Foodaholic 3D Royal Honey Natural Essence Mask

IMG_6637

Another mask review! I’m really starting to like sheet masking 😀 Makes my skin look great and are very relaxing! Those of you who don’t – well you should! This is the Foodaholic Royal Jelly Natural Essence Mask, which i got from Skin18.

IMG_6638

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Trehalose, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Royal Jelly Extract (0.1%), Honey Extract, Corydalis Ochotensis Extract, Chenopodium Album Flower Extract, Lactuca Indica Extract, Draba Nemorosa Extract, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.

Warning: contains fragrance and alcohol.

Notable ingredients:

Royal Jelly extract – source of protein and vitamins. Good for anti-aging, calming down inflamed skin. Stimulates cell renewal and synthesis of collagen, leading to smoother skin.

Honey extract – humectant – moisturises skin, retain moisture. Anti-oxidant. Promotes healing.

Mask Quality and Fit: 3.5/5
The mask shape was quite weird, but i guess it’s because of the ‘3D’ style of it. It folds down the middle of the face vertically. The stuck together part does not sit down properly, so i think there’s probably this thin line down the middle of my face that was not coated in essence. Bummer. But overall this doesn’t affect the results too much. Other than that, the fitting was actually quite good. Stayed on my face well too. The material of the mask was a bit like paper though, quite thin.

Smell: 3.8/5
The mask had a pleasant floral scent, and i guess a little bit like honey? Not sure. At first when taken out it had a herb like smell, but changes immediately to the sweet honey ish smell. Maybe it was just me though, and it didn’t smell like herbs at all.

Serum: 3.8/5
The mask feels calming after leaving in fridge for a couple of days. Not much extra serum though, sad. Enough left in the mask to rub onto arms and legs though, so all good. The serum is of a medium thickness.

Results: 4/5
Although the results were not instantaneous, the next morning my face looked rather plump and smooth. The results were actually a lot better than what i was expecting as usually these masks go for pretty cheap.

Overall rating: 3.8/5

Repurchase?:  For the price, these masks are really good! I will probably buy these again as a cheap everyday mask. You can get them from Skin18 for $1.50 each!

[Review + Guest Review] Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint (in ’01 Pink Ming’ and ’03 Play Orange’)

IMG_6751

Hey everyone! Recently I wrote a post about Kosmeshop and the package my sister and I received from them, if you read that you may have noticed these lip tints were in the package! (It was a small package after all ahaha). Note, my sister will be a guesting in this review, her comments will be marked in green!
[Also – first non-skincare review! First make-up review 😀 (This counts as make-up right?) I hope it’s alright that i review other things even though the main topic of my blog is skincare 😦 ]

Tony Moly’s new Liptone Get it Tints come in 6 colours, apparently these are very popular, especially in Korea, and these are sold out in many stores!

tint4_shop1_233001

I received the #03 Play Orange while my sister received the #01 Pink Ming lip tint!

Packaging: 5/5
The packaging of this lip tint is quite simple yet effective. Personally i like the simplicity of the design with the white cap and the glass body. It has a second lid inside of it, the rectangular one you just cap on, while you twist the inside to reveal the applicator.

IMG_6749

It is also quite sturdy, as while I was uploading the photos, i was holding this and I accidentally let go of it. The horror. I thought OMG i only used this thing twice and i already broke it… But when i picked it up and opened the cardboard packaging and examined it – it was perfectly fine! Not a scratch or crack in it! I was relieved ahaha.

I like the packaging! It’s really simple but looks really good. It looks kinda like nail polish bottles, I think. Do lip tints usually look like this? This was the first time tried on a lip tint so I have no idea haha… And it’s cool how it has two caps!

Colour, texture and application: 5/5
I thought this would be a more orangey colour due to the name and outer packaging, but it’s actually mostly red, which i should have expected looking back upon the photo on Kosmeshop. I still like the colour though, it’s a nice red-ish colour with a hint of orange and pink. It feels slightly cooling upon application. And application is quite easy with the brush.

1815_shop2_438237

This is how it looks like before and after 1 coating. (Please excuse the slightly different lighting and my horrible skin. ) It looks quite natural but you can tell that i put something on my lips as they look brighter and more colourful. The photos might not show it so much but even with one coating it is quite obvious in real life.

IMG_6722

Before tint, with a thin layer of colourless lip balm.

IMG_6724

After 1 thin layer of tint, mainly applied in the middle.

The texture is watery and dries fairly quickly. But remains watery long enough for me to smudge it with my finger. I would recommend using something else to do this though as my finger remains stained… Which brings me to my next point.

The first time I used it, I put on a layer of lip balm, because my sister said that’s what you’re supposed to do before applying lip tints? Anyways, the colour hardly showed up at all, and I was really disappointed, but then I realised it might be because the lip balm has a reddish colour. But my mum could tell really easily that I put something on my lips ahaha! I was really expecting a really bright pink colour to show up like the packaging. However, my lips are naturally quite pigmented I think, so it didn’t show up much. But a few days later, I tried it on again without the lip balm, and I think it did look a little bit brighter and pinker after I applied it. It was watery and cool when I put it on, then dried quite quickly. I don’t usually wear make up so I felt pretty after applying it hehe!

1815_shop2_271556

IMG_6726

Before

IMG_6729

After

How long it lasts: 4.5/5
This lip tints lasts for a very long time, and doesn’t really come off when you drink. The first time i used it i added a thin coat of glittery clear lip gloss on top. When i drank water the lip gloss came off but the tint stayed. And didn’t leave a mark on my cup! Since it lasts so long, it gets a bit annoying though as i can’t remove it when i don’t want to wear it anymore. A tip someone told me is to apply Vaseline/Petroleum Jelly to it, leave it for 2 minutes then wipe it off. Annnd didn’t really work for me. That’s why i took off half a point there.

IMG_6754Yeaaaah, it lasted quite long! I put it on in the afternoon and it was still there when I went to wash my face at night, even though I drank and ate a lot afterwards, but it faded a bit but still stayed! Also, I accidentally forgot to wash it off my lips. Do people usually use make up remover? I have no idea, well this is embarrassing…

IMG_6756

So, i hope that was helpful! I wasn’t sure how to do this two-way review thing, so let’s hope it’s not too confusing to read!

Purchase/Repurchase? I don’t think i’ll need to repurchase this as i think this will last me a long time! However, i am interested in trying some of the other colours, like Coral Ming or Red Hot! But probably after i actually start to use lip tints more often ahaha, just need to figure out a way to remove them 😦 You can buy them here from Kosmeshop for $7.77!. Recommended if you want a long lasting lip colour!

2459_shop2_663699

By the way, Kosmeshop also carries the Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint Water Bar, you could try them too! They are meant to be cooling, and i think they are probably more easily applied on the go since they are in bar form. They are from the same new summer series from Tony Moly. They come in two colours and are currently on sale at $6.60 at Kosmeshop!
